Contrast is and always has been part of my life. From existing antagonistically, yet stably, at the helm of my five sibling family, to being born on the cusp of Sagittarius and Capricorn, I have an innate attraction to the dichotomy of light and dark. This conveys through my lens.
With inclinations toward science in my higher education pursuits, as well as my artistic predisposition from childhood rearing its head, I manifested a radical journey to the East Coast and back in order to merge the Yin Yang of my desires. The science and creative aspects of photography ultimately won, offering me the optimal landscape for the self-expression of my dichotomous character. I graduated from the Art Institute of Seattle in Commercial Photography, and have not looked back since.
My motivation and energy behind my art comes from necessity. Necessity to create images with contrast. Light and dark, merged and existing together is the way I see the world; the way I exist in the world. The objects in each photograph vacillate between relating with one another, and being the antithesis of each other. Textures that don't belong together within traditional formulas suddenly make sense to the eye.
Welcome to my world, and the way in which I see it.
